Ajit Agarkar: BCCI can take a big decision before the ODI World Cup 2023. It is discussed that BCCI can make former India fast bowler Ajit Agarkar the chief selector. Although till now this former cricketer has not confirmed such news, but it is believed that all the formalities have been completed.
The BCCI may formally announce the name of the chief selector as well as the head coach for the women’s team on June 30. The BCCI had recently invited applications for the post, the last date of which is June 30. For this post, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will shortlist some names for this post and interview them on 1st July.
Sehwag’s name surfaced first
Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag’s name was doing the rounds for the post before Ajit Agarkar, but Sehwag dismissed the speculation saying that he has not been asked by any official to apply for the post. After which the name of Ajit Agarkar has come to the fore, who has good experience as a player and has also been a part of the coaching team of Delhi Capitals earlier.
Will be responsible for selecting the team for Asia Cup and World Cup
If Ajit Agarkar gets the responsibility then he will have to select the team for the biggest tournament World Cup as soon as he takes over the post.
