Kenya Road Crash: An uncontrollable truck crushed several vehicles and pedestrians on Friday evening in Londiani, Kenya. Due to this 48 people died, while 30 people were injured. The accident happened when a truck carrying a shipping container skidded off the road. He then rammed the minibus at the bus stop, then trampled pedestrians. The accident took place 200 km from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

Local police commander Geoffrey Mayek said the accident happened on Friday night on the highway between the cities of Kericho and Nakuru. So far we can confirm the death of 48 people and we suspect that one or two people are still trapped under the truck.
He said 30 people were seriously injured and were taken to various hospitals. The number could be more but so far we are sure of 30. Regional police commander Tom Odera confirmed the death toll to be 48.

Passengers crushed while trampling mini bus
According to media reports, rescue operations are being hampered due to heavy rains. Mayek said a truck that was headed to Kericho lost control and rammed into packed minibuses at the bus stop. The truck rammed the minibus and crushed the passengers and pedestrians standing near the bus stop.

Eyewitness driver Peter Otieno said he saw a trailer coming at a high speed. I swerved and narrowly avoided hitting him. He said that he saw about 20 dead bodies with his own eyes. There were other bodies under the vehicle.
