Prisoners attacked during namaz
Shuja Kasi said that apparently these prisoners had planned the escape and executed it during Eid prayers. When they were taken out of their barracks for Eid prayers, they violently attacked the police guards. One inmate was also killed in the firing by the prison guards, while 17 others managed to escape.
He said it appears that help was received from outside to enable them to escape. A list of escaped prisoners was prepared and some of them were in jail for terrorist activities.
Chaman prison is located close to the Iranian border town and security forces fear that the prisoners may have crossed the border with the help of accomplices.
